Gem of the Week

Personally I’ve been slacking on writing my articles so, for this week I have a very special gem that I’ve been keeping in the vault for a minute. This joint needs little introduction. We have the late great Notorious B.I.G. rapping over some of the greatest beats of all time such as “Nuthin But A G Thang” and “Gin & Juice”.  You might also notice … Continue reading Gem of the Week

What to Watch on Netflix this Weekend (5/22)

So I’m not quite sure if I’m late on Fruitvale Station being available on Netflix or I’m not late at all and this is a new thing. Either way, even if you have already, Fruitvale Station is a must watch. Police brutality is not something “new” in this country as demonstrated by the 2009 shooting of Oscar Grant; portrayed by Michael B. Jordan. Jordan plays … Continue reading What to Watch on Netflix this Weekend (5/22)

Key Players for the NBA Conference Finals

Every NBA fan’s dream has come true: we get to see 3 of the NBA’s best in James Harden, Steph Curry, and LeBron James. The trio managed to fill out the top 3 spots in MVP voting with Steph Curry winning the award. We also get to see an Atlanta Hawks team that sent 4 players to the All-Sar Game in February. In a game where the fans often cling to the superstars and household names, the 2015 NBA Champion could come down to unfamiliar faces; or at least faces not as familiar as LeBron James. With the Warriors having such a deep roster, the Cavaliers being banged up, the Hawks being the Hawks, and James Harden not being able to score 100 points off free throws every night, somebody else from each team will have to step up. That being said, here are my key players to watch throughout these conference finals: Continue reading “Key Players for the NBA Conference Finals”

Winners and Losers of the NBA Draft Lottery

Finally, the night many GMs and owners across the NBA have been waiting for. Fans of the NBA’s worst of the worst tuned in to see where their teams would draft; hoping for a high pick to give them a reason to watch their team (-cough- like the Knicks – cough-). However, as expected, the chips did not fall in order. Leaving some teams with better picks than expected, and some with hopes of coming back to the lottery next year (-cough- like the Knicks -cough-) in hopes of a do-over.

Winners of the draft lottery:

Los Angeles Lakers: This is perfect for the Lakers. It’s all but set in stone that the two big men in Okafor and Towns will go #1 and #2, then the two point guards in Russell and Mudiay will go #3 and #4. Jordan Clarkson played well for them this year, and if the chips had fallen and they drafted #4 they’d be looking at possibly replacing him in the starting lineup already. Instead, they’re poised to add the second piece of a duo that will feature Julius Randle as well (don’t forget about him). They went from possibly losing their pick to the 76ers to getting the 2nd pick in the draft.

Miami Heat: Like the Lakers, the Heat could have also lost their pick last night if they had fallen outside of the top 10. Luckily for them, they landed right at 10. In a deep draft, that could possibly land them a wing player they need in Kelly Oubre or Stanley Johnson.

Where Can I Buy Shoes From?

With the number of people with an affection for sneakers growing, the number of people uneducated about sneakers with an affection for sneakers also grows. One of the many questions from this group is where to buy shoes. Many people don’t like dealing with the Saturday scramble and dealing with lines, tickets, raffles, and whatever other methods sneaker stores are using. Some just … Continue reading Where Can I Buy Shoes From?

NFL Draft Grades: NFC West

Arizona Cardinals:

The Cardinals got arguably the best tackle in the draft with D.J. Humphries in the first round. they also added a big back to compliment Andre Ellington and Missouri’s Markus Golden to plug in at one of those end positions. The Cardinals don’t have a lot of holes on that team at all. They even drafted a potential return specialist in J.J. Nelson. Nothing too special with their draft picks, but they were all solid and they didn’t have to reach for any players.

Draft Grade: B+ Continue reading “NFL Draft Grades: NFC West”
