Finally, the night many GMs and owners across the NBA have been waiting for. Fans of the NBA’s worst of the worst tuned in to see where their teams would draft; hoping for a high pick to give them a reason to watch their team (-cough- like the Knicks – cough-). However, as expected, the chips did not fall in order. Leaving some teams with better picks than expected, and some with hopes of coming back to the lottery next year (-cough- like the Knicks -cough-) in hopes of a do-over.

Los Angeles Lakers: This is perfect for the Lakers. It’s all but set in stone that the two big men in Okafor and Towns will go #1 and #2, then the two point guards in Russell and Mudiay will go #3 and #4. Jordan Clarkson played well for them this year, and if the chips had fallen and they drafted #4 they’d be looking at possibly replacing him in the starting lineup already. Instead, they’re poised to add the second piece of a duo that will feature Julius Randle as well (don’t forget about him). They went from possibly losing their pick to the 76ers to getting the 2nd pick in the draft.
Miami Heat: Like the Lakers, the Heat could have also lost their pick last night if they had fallen outside of the top 10. Luckily for them, they landed right at 10. In a deep draft, that could possibly land them a wing player they need in Kelly Oubre or Stanley Johnson.
